Size Guide – Safety Shoes (EU 36–46)

How to find your size for GemChve steel toe safety shoes, in three minutes. The definitive chart with exact measurements is also in the photos on the product page; sizing questions are covered in our FAQ too.

How to measure your feet

  1. Stand on a sheet of paper in the socks you'll wear at work, in the evening (feet are largest then). Mark the tip of your longest toe and the back of your heel.
  2. Measure the distance between the two marks in centimetres. Do both feet — they're rarely identical — and use the longer one.
  3. Find your foot length in the table below. If you land between two sizes, or you wear thick work socks, choose the larger EU size.

Size conversion table (approximate)

EU size Foot length (cm) UK (approx.) US Men (approx.) US Women (approx.)
36 22.7 3.5 4.5 5.5
37 23.3 4 5 6.5
38 24.0 5 6 7.5
39 24.7 6 6.5 8
40 25.3 6.5 7 9
41 26.0 7.5 8 9.5
42 26.7 8 8.5 10.5
43 27.3 9 9.5 11
44 28.0 9.5 10 12
45 28.7 10.5 11 12.5
46 29.3 11 12 13.5

UK and US conversions are approximate and vary between brands — when in doubt, go by foot length in centimetres.

Fit tips for safety shoes

A steel toe cap doesn't stretch the way leather trainers do, so don't buy tight and hope they'll "break in" — there should be about a thumb's width (≈1 cm) of space in front of your longest toe. The quick-dial closure lets you fine-tune the fit through the day: snug it for ladder work, ease it off at the end of a long shift. If you use supportive insoles (like our orthopedic insoles), they replace the standard insole, so no extra size adjustment is needed.
